Other Useful Ideas: I have a love-hate relationship with Facebook. I love being able to keep up with friends and family there, yet their manipulation and games to force us to see stuff we don’t want instead of what we do want makes me hate them. (Don’t get me started on their amplification of the worst of humanity.)
There’s a poorly named tool, a Chrome (and Edge, and any other browser that runs on the chromium engine) extension, that really improves FB on a browser. Yes, the ESUIT | Ad Blocker for Facebook (click from a computer; don’t think you can add extensions on a phone/tablet) does block FB ads, including “Sponsored Posts” which, for me, are usually of zero interest to me. More importantly to me, it also blocks FB’s “Suggested Posts” from “influencers” and such that I have no interest in. And it blocks “Reels” — which I would probably like if there was a way to click “I like this” / “This is garbage” so it would actually “learn” to suggest good stuff. But then, FB doesn’t “learn” from the posts I “like” so why would that actually work?
In place of the things it removes it adds a very small and subtle “Suggested Post Removed” and such ...and sometimes there are 20 of those in a row. Really. FB is much more useful, much less garbage, with this plugin. Hat tip to Ernie at Tedium for this one.
