Other Good Reading: Well, a video this week. Way back in 2013, Amazon announced on 60 Minutes that it would be launching “Amazon Prime Air” to deliver packages with drones. When they finally started limited use in 2022, Amazon estimated that each delivery costs them “at least” $484, and they “anticipated” they’d get that down to $63 by 2025 — about 20x regular ground delivery average costs. Meanwhile, Zipline went live in 2016, and for a much more noble purpose. According to Premium subscriber Miles in Illinois, “Despite some of the hyperbole, I found the story incredibly uplifting, and there’s precious little on the Internet that I find uplifting these days!” Amazing Invention- This Drone Will Change Everything (21 minutes) is by Mark Rober, another guy who used to work at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory who quit to “create content” online. (Our time there didn’t overlap: I had been gone for 8 years by the time he started at JPL.)
